I downloaded the trial-version. Is there a separate installer for the purchased version?
No. You can install a licence on the trial-version to get it activated. If you later release the licence, the program will go back to trial-version.
The only thing that changes when the licence is installed is that APS wont close after 10 minutes. Apart from this, the program should behave the same whether or not a licence is installed.
What happens after the trial-version ends? Can I try more than once?
In trial-mode, the program will close after 10 minutes. However, feel free to start the program again and try as many times as you like.
I want to use APS on 3 computers. How many licences do I need?
If you want to use the licences simultaneously, you will need 3 licences for 3 computers. One licence is installed on one computer only. However, if you only need one computer with APS at a time, you could also just purchase one licence, and transfer this between computers as you need.
Read more about licences and activation here.
How do I get app updates?
APS has update-notifications and auto-updates so that when a new version is ready, you will be prompted to update. You can update from within the program, and the update-process should be smooth.
We recommend users to always use the latest version, but we also have a legacy version 2 available if you have special needs.
Do I need to install a plugin to control PowerPoint?
No. Our desktop-app will communicate with PowerPoint without using a plugin.
Do I need to be connected to Internet to use APS?
No. APS works perfectly fine offline. The only thing you need Internet for is the licence-activation process, and the online timer. After the licence is installed, you can turn off Internet and use APS offline.
How do I know that my copy of APS is legit?
First of all you need to make sure that you only download APS from our domain presentationtools.com. If you find APS available from other websites, please do not download and install it. These files may contain viruses, work in unexpected ways, and downloading APS from unauthorised websites violates our Terms of Use.
Secondly, you can check that your version of APS is code-signed by our company PresentationTools AS, which means that you are using a legitimate copy of APS. You will get proof of the code-signature during the installation-process:
For Windows, you will get notified by the operative-system that the app you are about to install comes from PresentationTools AS. For Mac, you will be notified that Apple has checked the downloaded file and no viruses was found.
Alternatively, you can locate the app-file, and find the code-signature among the properties.
If this code-signature is missing on the app-file, it means that this is not a legitimate copy of APS. Then you should not install the file on your computer.
For the auto-updates, we have ways to ensure that you cannot download illegitimate update-versions in case there are security breaches in the communication between your desktop-app and our server.
So, to put it short, as long as you download APS from our domain, check that the code-signature is in place, and use the auto-updates from within the program, you can feel safe that you are using a legitimate version of APS.
Where do I get customer support?
You can send us a mail at info@presentationtoools.com and we will try to reply as soon as possible, and always within 24 hours.
